Gribner Prague Workshop Details

This Peer-Review Workshop will be a gathering of serious nonfiction writers
with manuscripts in which they have committed to subjects
and have already made significant progress (80 pages minimum) on memoirs or a collection of essays.

We are a genuine peer workshop with members having an equal voice and a chance to determine the direction of his/her own feedback session. While we do have two experienced managers, the main authority in this workshop will be a shared commitment to excellence. Our conversation, which will center on close, soulful readings of one another’s work,
will center on issues of form, theme, copy-editing, and submission preparation.

The class size limit of 10 (Ten) (2 group of 5) will allow each writer’s work significant time for review.
All manuscripts will be disseminated by email beforehand (by June 1), so that participants will have time
to read and prepare comments before arriving in Prague.

Ron Grant and Sue Ribner will manage the workshop in association with Professor Richard Katrovas,
the Prague Summer Program Founding Director. They will choose the participants and generally ensure
that the quality of the writing to be discussed by the group meets a high level of proficiency.

In addition, there will be class visits featuring Prague Summer Program’s Creative Writing Faculty. Past visitors have included Patricia Hampl, Alison Deming, and our program director, Richard Katrovas.

* * Participants may reserve dorm housing and are entitled to all Prague Summer Program benefits and offerings, including the Monday night Czech movie series, Tuesday morning Lecture Series, evening readings by PSP’s prestigious faculty, walking tours, day trips to Czech cities of historical significance and beauty outside of Prague, and a public transportation pass good for all modes of transport in Prague for the duration of your enrollment. A Czech language course and optional weekend excursions are also offered at additional cost.
